Statement

Drawing a human form is like mapping a landscape.

The marks made by brushes and knives, charcoal, pastel and graphite on canvas or paper aim to translate the beauty and strength of the body and nature as well as their vulnerability.

In the painting of the figure, the shapes and textures of landscape can often be perceived. The ambiguity invites the viewer to further examination.

My explorations in painting and drawing seek to capture the abstract nature of the individual form, whilst my frequent visits to the South of France and Asia have introduced the use of vibrant colours into my work, which express moods related to human emotions.
